Hello,

I have missed being in weekly touch with you; it is very good to be connecting again now.

Practicalities first. To overcome the gap of not being in touch, with considerable help, I am setting up a blog. You can choose to receive my blog as an email, or access it by simply clicking on the blog site. (More details next week, at the moment it is in the testing phase ) But once it goes public, I can communicate with you at least once a week, and probably more, even if it’s only a few lines. (And you can respond!). I plan to write about what I am thinking, doing seeing, etc.— also to post teachings.

Then, the blog will be used to post the monthly IntuitiveWeek really ought to be called IntuitiveMonth) and EnergyLinkUp message. So, technology permitting, I look forward to being back in more regular contact soon. (There will continue to be no charge to you to subscribe.)

Now, moving on to the month ahead. The key to the month ahead is to let go of limitations and constraints. Often it’s hard to see where the constraints are. One clue is fear, or sometimes a grim, un-joyful persistence that signals resignation.

Wherever there is fear, or resignation, there is contraction. Contraction is the power of the dark that reduces us, or limits us. We often turn to it under the guise of keeping “safe”. Only “safe” achieved in this way is highly unsafe because it is disabling, limiting and/or dis-empowering.

If you are familiar with my chakra model, contraction moves the centre line out of balance and usually restricts the functioning of the most affected, or targeted charkas. If you are not so familiar with the chakra model, just understand that this is the reality you create when you restrict your reach, or restrict your activities, or otherwise contract yourself because you believe that keeps you safe.

Another variant of keeping safe that is similarly limiting, is trying to be safe by aiming for total control of a situation. It doesn’t work. This strategy blinkers your perception and so threatens your balance. It restricts your actions and prevents you from seeing, hearing what is really going on and benefiting from it. When you try to take maximum control you contract a vital part of yourself. Trying to control all your circumstances (and usually everyone else around too) doesn’t work, it doesn’t make you “safe.” It just increases the problems.

Letting go of fear or constraint is not the same as acting foolishly. Acting foolishly means no preparation, no forethought, just the proverbial wish and prayer.

Becoming truly safe lies in is submitting to the knowledge that you can’t control the future. It is about authenticity. Don’t try. Relax into accepting that you can do your best to plan, but not all eventualities are going to be covered. Nor should they be. This is the antidote to contraction.

Adaptability is the best gift to ease the path of development, and overcome the fear. Adaptability means being able to adapt to whatever circumstances transpire, and using them to best advantage.

My hunch is that for many people the chakra that may be feeling the tightest pressure at the moment is the second, which rules anything to do with consumption. That’s consumption of love, of money, of food, of sex. Its not the desire to control for controls sake, or the immersion in ideas that can take you literally “on a trip”. This is good old material reality with all its on earthly challenges.

To meet that challenge, and deny the dark, accept what you need to accept. Denial, fantasies of omnipotence, delusions of grandeur, even attempts to be “too clever” to gain advantage – are all messages from the dark. It is old, destructive energy calling you. Do not contract in this way, that would be giving way to fear and its accompanying restraint.

Simply accept and seek out authenticity- the place where you are yourself. The truth, your truth. Then work on establishing constructive behavior, behavior that does its best with the circumstances while acknowledging that the future is hidden, for now. In modesty and authenticity lies adaptability. That’s a real mark of serious development.

So, this month’s ELU is about denying the hold of the dark. It’s about resisting fear and constraint, without swinging into the need for control (or fantasies of omnipotence, or narcissism for that matter.) As ever it is the story of a personal quest- but I know so many share that experience. Going “Beyond The Dark’s Hold” it is how to balance your energies, and stand in the place of authenticity that enables you both to gain and to give of the highest – to be your best, most complete self.

BEYOND THE DARK’S HOLD
ELU July 24th 2009

The blue horizon beckons.
The hilltop gazes serenely
At the peaceful fields below.

I touch this picture book reality
In my mind’s eye as I tramp
The mountain path- around
And around, on the route
To purification, that demands
Persistence
And unrelenting subjugation.
Or does it?

Your face obliterates the sky.
Our history records my fall
From grace- or does it?

Mea culpa, mea culpa
Over and over again.
Is this the dark pattern’s power?

Facing my life afresh- or
Trying to- I offer up my soul
To myself, and pledge to
Stand on the hilltop, forsaking
The path around the mountain,
That eternal pursuit of
An elusive purification.

Instead, I fill my eyes
With the light of the sky,
And the curve of
The hill that delights
My soul and raises me
Beyond the tempter’s dark hold.

I call the up my dreams and
Dare my desire –
You will come to me,
As I am coming to you.

Travel well,
Go well, be well.
