England is icy as 2009 gives way to 2010. Freezing air with arctic undertones is blanketing the country. The sky in many parts of London is illuminated by fireworks, and the Thames is flowing slowly as if ruled by the memories of the days when it froze right over. The sky is mottled as cloud banks move slowly across the beautiful, impassive moon. The morning will see a sparkling frost, even a blanket of snow perhaps, the gleaming particles repeating the lesson of this time: it is the virtue of clarity.

The cold is clear. The ice outlines all it touches in sparkling lines. So it needs to be with us mere mortals. May we see the truth clearly in the New Year, may our vision be blessed with clarity, and may we act with the benefit of the clarity that is ours, at the deepest levels.

Today a new client, who is participating in a telegroup with me, sent me this poem. He’s a talented young man in his early 30s. He holds a demanding role in the corporate world, and is grappling very seriously with wider perspectives of spirituality and energetic development.

As we work together he, like all the group, will share further and further in the energetic calibration, and the evolutionary or personal development that accompanies it, and that members of all the groups experience.

In honor of his journey, and all our journeys, whether we use these words or different words, here’s the poem – I deeply respect the feeling behind it.

My intention be the catalyst
Leading me to source
Closely I will listen
To natures divine course

My journey is my own
Alone I will find
But companions I seek
For sharing in kind

Mindful of my thoughts
My ego does not rule
My energy does not suffer
The influence of the fool

Connected with Spirit I am
Deep faith be true
My potential be realized
Daily balance I do

Jon Amiel’s film “Creation” is about Charles Darwin’s tormented struggle to write and then to allow his now famous book “On the Origin of Species,” to be published in 1859. It’s about Darwin’s own painful loss of faith, and his great turmoil at the anguish his work and scientific beliefs caused his wife.

I had not realized how huge a personal battle writing his book was for Darwin. The film show the terrible trauma of loosing his faith at a time when religion, the Christian faith, was the absolute backbone of society and family life in Britain (and much of the civilized western world).

Today, stepping away from conventional religion seems commonplace to so many. However, what to put in its place is not so commonplace. This film shows a seminal event both in the debate about the existence of God, and in the search for how to come to terms with a God who is not defined by the New Testament (or the Old). It’s very moving. If you are interested in the history of God, see this film.

I was honored today. Jill Furmanovsky- one of rock’s most accomplished photographers and an old friend, came to take my photograph. Jill has photographed many of the biggest names in rock music, including: Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield, Bob Marley, Eric Clapton, Blondie, The Police, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, The Pretenders, and Oasis. You can see her work at www.rockarchive.com – well worth checking out. So, imagine my delight at being in such good company.

Actually, this is not the first time I’ve been honored in this way. The cover photograph of my book The Pool of Memory, The Autobiography of an Unwilling Intuitive (its at www.MichalLevin.com or Amazon) was taken by Jill in 1998. She really understands my approach, which is very complimentary to her work as she instinctively aims to capture her subjects’ energy on camera. She is a genius! Our session was quick, completely painless, and fun even though photographing me is difficult because the right hand side of my face is partially paralyzed, but Jill achieves marvels. I’ll post the result of the session for you to see.
